February Purchases

I went to the mall the other day just to go to Victoria's Secret and check out this body spray which I heard on youtube smells so that it instantly makes you think of sex.

Ummm, NEGATIVE!! If you think of an 80 year old lady when you think of sex than yes, this might be what you would think of. Needless to say, I passed on it.

After that I went to to F21 and Dillards to use the G.C's  I was given at Christmas and here's what I picked up.

Yes, my nude shoe obsession continues and these Gianni Bini shoes from Dillards matches my skin tone so perfectly that I knew I couldn't pass them up. They are so comfotable too for being 5in heels, the skirt is from Dillards as well. Top is from F21.

American eagle was having a sale on their jeans so I picked up a dark washed pair for $29 along w/ 2 basic tops for work.

New Orleans ~ Mardi Gras!

So as many of you probably know, Mardi Gras just finished yesterday. The pics below are from the Bacchus and Mardi Gras day parade (also known as Fat Tuesday). Will Ferrell was king of Bacchus this year and I absolutly love him so I definitely had to catch that one. Like most locals, I stayed away from the French Quarter parades cause it's just madness down there. I've done the French Quarter thing twice and after it took me an hour to walk 1 city block due to the amount of people I decided that I had enough for 1 lifetime ha.
It's only natural to wear the panties you catch at the parade over your jeans lol
Will Ferrell!  I was so excited to see him and you could tell that he loved being King of Bacchus

I decided to do a glittery purple and gold look for the parade since green, purple and gold are Mardi Gras colors.

Have any of you ever been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras?

Lace Leggings = Hotness... or a hot mess

I decided to mix it up Saturday night from my usual dress outfit to lace leggings. I love lace leggings, I think if done right it looks super sexy. I paired mine with a solid blue tunic since imo the only way lace leggings should be worn is w/ a solid top or else the outfit looks too busy. I was also going to wear flat suede boots (see pic 1&2). I changed my mind right before leaving and opted for the lace up peep toe ankle boots instead. I just feel weird w/out heels on for a night out.

Sorry for the craptastic pics, they were all taken w/ my phone.

Did any of you own lace leggings? How do you like to wear them?

Lead in Lipsticks

I'm sure this is going to be posted in a few blogs today, but none the less I came across this on Yahoo today and thought I would share it.

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is particularly concerned about lead exposure for children and pregnant women. The CDC's Advisory Committee for Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention recently stated that there is no safe lead level for children. Lead poisoning causes a wide range of problems from low IQ and slowed grown in children to memory loss, mood disorders, and miscarriage in adults.
The FDA found the highest levels in lipsticks made by Procter & Gamble (Cover Girl brand), L'Oreal (L'Oreal, Body Shop and Maybelline brands), and Revlon. The lipsticks containing the most lead (measured in parts per million) are:
1. Maybelline Color Sensational, Pink Petal (7.9 ppm)
2. L'Oreal Colour Riche, Volcanic, (7.0 ppm)
3. NARS Semi-Matte, Red Lizard (4.93 ppm)
4. Cover Girl Queen Collection, Ruby Remix, (4.92 ppm)
5. Nars Semi-Matte, Funny Face (4.89 ppm)
6. L'Oreal Colour Riche, Tickled Pink (4.45 ppm)
7. L'Oreal Intensely Moisturizing Lipcolor, Heroic (4.41 ppm)
8. Cover Girl Continuous Color, Warm Brick (4.28 ppm)
9. Maybelline Color Sensational, Mauve Me (4.23 ppm)
10. Stargazer Lipstick, #103 (4.12 ppm)
California, which has the nation's most stringent laws about lead in consumer products, has imposed a safety limit of 5.0 ppm for lipstick. If you are concerned about contaminants in your lipstick or other cosmetics, the Environmental Working Group rates over 1000 cosmetic lip productson its searchable database. Because there are thousands of lipsticks on the market, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics says its impossible to test every one and the best thing you can do is support an outright ban on lead.

My valentines Day

I hope you girls all had a great Valentines day. Jason sent roses to my work which was so sweet. He's never done that before and no one had ever sent me flowers to my work before either. However, I did drop quite a few hints that that was what I wanted, I'm cheesy like that lol. These were sent by 1800flowers. From what I heard on the radio this morning there were a ton of unhappy customers who didn't receive their orders and that was the biggest topic trending on twitter. I guess I got lucky and revived mine.

He decided to go for the package deal and get the roses w/ the vase and truffles. Smart man  :)

As you can see I was super excited about the chocolate and ate almost half the box before taking the picture lol. They were Harry London milk and dark chocolate truffles and they were sooo good.

For dinner we went to Cafe Deblasi, which is where we had our first date. I wish I would have took a picture of our meals, but service was horrible that night. We waited almost an hour for our meal to get there so when it arrived we just dove right in.

As for his gift, I got him Clinique Happy for men which he's been wanting for a few months now.

Did you girls get what you wanted for Valentines day?

I wip my hair back and forth!

Ok not really, but I did get a new do. I had about 4 inches taken off, got some bangs and colored it. I actually colored it about 2 weeks ago and in regular lighting you can't see much of a difference, but under this bright light you can see that it sort of had a red tint to it before.

This is the color before and I dyed it natural black since I figured it would fade into a dark brown after a few washes anyway, which it did. This was my first time using the L'oreal 10 minute hair color and I really liked it. It also offers 100% gray coverage. I actually have about 5 or 6 gray hairs that I've noticed sprout up within the past 3 or 4 months and this hair dye covered it up w/in 10 minutes. Usually for gray coverage you have to leave color on for an additional 10 minutes or so, but that wasn't the case w/ this one so I'm impressed abd definitely plan to repurchase it.

Anyway, here's my new hair cut, I took this pic at work. As you can see I was being super productive ha.

I really feel like I needed the bangs, I have what I like to call a 5 finger forehead. It's huge and I think I need a little something in front. So far everyone seems to like me better w/ bangs.

What do you guys think?

Birthday Festivities!

My friend's birthday was Saturday night (the chic in red) so we went to her place for some food, drinks and some dancing w/ the kinect. Um, that 'ish looks way easier than it really is. Jason recorded a video on his phone of me and my friend playing it.

As you can see I totally suck! It was my first time playing it I'm not good at choreographed moves. I much prefer to freestyle it. Looking at this vid you would think I have no rhythm lol

I can't believe I'm showing ppl this video!

Valentines Day

Valentines Day is right around the corner and every year I find myself trying to come up w/ creative gift ideas for the husband. I always tell myself that I'm going to put together a gift basket w/ the things he loves, like an action movie, cheese, beer, a hat...just random stuff. Then the thought of having to actually go look for the stuff sinks in and I end up getting him the same thing... a G.C to Home Depot.

Some might say that G.C are too informal, but hey, I'm fine with getting a G.C for any occasion so he should be too. This year I decided not to do the G.C thing and got him something that I know he's been wanting for a while. It's nothing fancy, but it's something I know he'll like. I would just say what it is, but he reads my blog sometimes. :P

For Valentine's day this year year I've been dropping major hints as to what I want and it's NOT a G.C so hopefully he delivers on it. I guess we will see.

For those of you who are single, what are your thoughts on this holiday? Personally, I think it's just a greeting card ploy. When I was single I could care less about Valentines Day, that is until the love of my life ex b/f broke up with me less than a week before V-day. Omg, now that I'm thinking of it. Today, the 8th is the exact day he broke up with me about 7 years ago. That's kind of weird that I remember the date after all this time lol.

So girls, singles and attached; what are your plans for V-day?

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer Review

I'm not sure if this is a new product or not, but I needed a new concealer and what drew me to this one is that this doubles as a highlighter. I don't really have dark circles under my eyes, but I do like to apply concealer in an upside down triangle under my eyes to brighten up my face. Kandee Johnson on youtube has a great video on this and really works.
I like that you can just squeeze the tube to get the product out, the way I apply is just by putting a dab on my face and then blending it out with my Sonia Kashuk flat top brush. The shade I got this in is fair which is a good bit lighter than my NC35 skin tone.

The texture of this is very creamy and smooth. It blends nicely to a semi matte finish and makes your skin look pretty perfect. I haven't tried using this to cover up any major imperfections since I plan on using this to just brighten my under eye area. It's also pretty long wearing and doesn't rub off. I needed soap and water to remove it.

Have any of you tried this concealer? What is your current favorite that you are using?
