Work outfits

I've been slacking with the work outfit post, but it mainly because I forget to take a pic of myself when I get to work. I'm still obsessed with the chiffon shirts and wear them almost daily to work. I've also been wearing dresses a lot lately, but haven't had a chance to photograph them yet. That will be my next work outfits post.

NEW York Twenty13!!

I'm pretty late with this post since I atually got back from NY a few weeks ago. NYC is seriously the greatest city on earth. No offense to anyone who doesn't live there, I know I would work in a soup kitchen if it meant I could live there lol. 

I literally went all over the city and even hit some places twice. I have my first bowl of Pho ever in Chinatown and my first bubble tea ever there too. Both were amazing. I did some shopping in Soho and ate at a few local places, including the food carts, because that's really what the locals do from what I hear. I went to a hole in the wall place for some coffee and it was seriously the best coffee of my life! I had the best time ever there and definitely hope to go back one day...if only I could win the lottery I would be set haha. 

I seriously went ALL over Manhattan, but I was actually staying in Brooklyn for the 7 days I was there, close to Flatbush Ave in case anyone is familiar with the area. .

Review - Revlon Nearly Naked

My friend gave me this foundation about 2 weeks ago. She said it was too light for her, but it's a perfect match for my NC 30-35 skintone.

What I like best about this foundation is that it feels light and has a thin consistancy but still offers great coverage. Like most of my foundations, I mix this one with my other foundations, but I have worn it by itself and like it just as much. When I mix it, I usually use Revlon's Age Rewind, but this foundation would be great mixed with Maybelline's Super Stay as well since the super stay is pretty thick on it's own and in my opionion needs a thinner foundation blended with it to work better. 

Another thing I really love about this foundation is it's neutral undertone. I find a lot of drugstore foundations have too much pink in them, but this one works perfectly for my yellow/olive undertones. Staying power is pretty good with this. I would say about 6 to 8 hours when I set it with loose powder, which I do regardless of what foundation I'm wearing. The finish of this is is really natural and would be best desscribed as a satin finish.

Beach Bag Essentials

It's that time of the year again where a lot of us are spending our summer at the beach or laying pool side. There are a few essentials that I think we all need when doing so. Here's my must haves:

1. Beach bag - The one I have is from VS. It's large and plastic on the outside and material on the inside. These are my favorite because you don't have to worry about them getting wet. 

2. iPod - or any music player of your choice. I prefer the iPod touch because of the outside speaker. 

3. Flip flops - for obvious reasons.

4. Large beach towel - to lay on. How cute is that one from VS?

5. Cover up - I love the plain white cotton ones. They go with all bathing suits. 

6. Sunblock for the face - I love the ultra sheer by neutrogena.

7. Sunblock for the body - I really like the spray kind cause they are just so much more convienient. This one by neutrogena has a cooling effect. 

8. Tanning lotion - Optional of course, but it's something I always have in my bag and my favorite is the carrot oil kind. I find it tans you the fastest.

9. Lip sunblock - This is a must have year round for me, but especially when I'm in the sun. The lips burn very easily and it's super painful so definitely keep this on you and reappply often.

10. Bottle of water - gotta stay hydrated. 

11. Hat - I love floppy beach hats or a straw fedora. 

12. Sunglasses - also a must have year round, but a necessity at the beach, b/c the white sand just amplifies the sun's rays. 

13. Hair ties - nothing worse then being hot and having your long hair stick to you.

Accessories Haul & an Upcoming Trip

I've been hauling up a storm lately, mainly accessory type things. Here's what I got within the last month (with the exception of the lion necklace which I got about 2 months ago)

Almost all the earrings came from F21 and a few are from Burlingtons

I've really been loving the look of cat eye sunglasses. I never bought a pair cause I didn't think I could pull them off...I got 2 pairs and still am not sure I can pull them off lol, but I love them! I saw these tortoise shell ones and the black pair below them and couldn't decide which ones I wanted so

 I got both. The black pair is my favorite and I've been wearing them non stop. I get them from Forever21

 I had to get this infinity scarf because I live in scarves as soon as it hits 60 down here

 I also got these Jessica Simpson sunglasses, but I may be returning them. I think they are a little too wide for my face.

 I'm going to NY for a week next month so I figured I should get myself a pair of comfy lightweight shoes. I NEVER wear tennis shoes except for going to the gym. They just make my feet too hot. When I saw these at TjMaxx I thought they were cute and they seriously weight almost nothing, but besides that they are incredibly comfortable so I had to get them.

I've been needing a jewelry tray for forever, but I've been holding out because I wanted the bigger one that has about 15 or so compartments. Well after waiting for months and not being able to find it I just caved and got this one that has 9 compartments. It has a Parisian theme and matches my wall color perfectly so I think I did alright. 

I "needed" new luggage so I figured I would treat myself to this fancy embossed ostrich one by Adrienne Vittadini. It's a 28 inch 360 spinner. I swear, if those baggage handlers at the airport jack it up I'm going to to lose my sh*t. That's actually the main reason I never buy nice expensive luggage in the first place.
