We've Been Violated!

Sunday Jason and I went out on a friends boat to cruise around and to check out this dolphin that was in the news and papers and while back. The story with this dolphin is that during hurricane Katrina the tidal surge pushed him into this harbor. He is all by himself and despite many attempts to get him out of there and into open waters, he refuses to leave. The dolphin is said to be in his mating prime too, which is why his umm...dolphin parts are always hanging out and he tries to "mate" with the boats.

He's super friendly and comes right up to the boat, he even lets you pet him. This was the closest I've ever been to a dolphin and I was actually able to touch his flipper. I was super excited because I love dolphins.

The funny thing is, he seems to enjoy the boat the most when the motor was running and we were just in idle. As soon as we would shut the boat completely off he would make his way to another boat to hump. You can see the enjoyment in his face, eyes half way shut and tongue hanging out lol. It was the funniest thing ever.
It was actually pretty hard to leave the harbor because the dolphin kept following us and we were scared to go faster than 2mph due to the propeller. He won't go past a certain point so in order to get away we had to shut off the boat and let him go to another boat, but the second we would turn ours on again he came right back haha. We managed just fine though.

Have any of you ever been this close to a dolphin before?

Lol that's so funny! I heard awhile back that dolphins are the only other mammal that have sex for pleasure haha. I'm not sure if that was true though...

I burst out laughing when I read that he's in his mating prime and mistakes potential partners with boats! I hope he does eventually meets a partner :) x

omg that is sooo awesome, I've always wanted to swim with dolphins when I'm on vacay, but when it came down to it, i would hesitate... next time, I'll do it for sure!!

I first looked at the second pic where he's got his junk hanging out and was like, WHAT THE?!?!?! IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS?!? haha. Awww, neat to get such close up pictures. Seems like you must get to do so much cool stuff down in Lousianna.
